10 of 10 people found the following review helpful  fast, functional and slim., 27 July 2012 This review is from: Sony Xperia Go Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black (Electronics) One of the biggest complaints of this phone is the pitiful resolution but in all fairness the screen is vibrant and you have to go out of your way to view issues with the small resolution by bringing it closer to your face than you would normally use it. In normal use the screen is fine. Its fast (as you would expect from a dual core) and it is very pocket-able. In fact given that the resolution is small, matched with the dual core (cpu/gpu has to do less work), it actually makes it one of the fastest phones available. I haven't tested the waterproofness but it seems to be sealed well, with the only slots for sim and microsd (no removable battery). Wet finger tracking is a bonus, try using a touch phone in rain its impossible but this fine. Bad points are the build (cheap back cover, no spare), charging port cover is also pathetic and could easily fall off (meaning no water/dust resistance). On button also does not feel as though it will last. Also i don't think it'll take a drop as well as others in its class like the defy. Ill give it 4/5. I think it's best looking phone I've seen. The graphic interface is similarly beautifully pared down and super stylish. Sony has a good eye for simple and clean design and it really comes across in this phone. It's great as a music player. I was able to easily load albums from itunes on my mac by connecting the phone via usb and dragging from itunes and dropping into the sounds folder on the phone. I listen on good quality sennheiser earbuds and the sound quality is on a par with my ipod nano. The camera is decent, photos have good detail and warm colors, I love that you can tap on the screen to select the area to focus. The browser is speedy and the text flows to fit the size of your screen as you zoom in and out. The screen resolution may not be as good as the iphone 4 but I found it more than good enough for browsing webpages and reading blogs. I'm not planning on watching Kurosawa movies on it. I have not tested the water resistance of my phone but it will definitely come in handy for walking through rainstorms and camping by the beach. I have been able to go 24 hours on 50% battery. I turn off GPS, bluetooth, wifi, backlight and turn the screen brightness to minimum. Minimum brightness is still perfectly readable unless you are in bright sunlight. There are phones out there with better specs, but the xperia go is more than good enough for my needs, plus it is light in the pocket, waterproof and looks cool as hell. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful A day at the beach, 16 Sep 2012 This review is from: Sony Xperia Go Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black (Electronics) Just a few days after buying the Sony Xperia Go, I took it to the beach to take a few pictures and videos of my son and not worry about sand or water ruining the day. At some time during my stay at the beach the phone fell from my pocket on to the sand. I noticed about an hour later and the tide had risen by a few meters by then. I called my phone from my wife's (this one had to stay in the car, haha). It gave a signal, meaning the phone was working. After half an hour of calling myself and "listening to the sand" my wife found it buried under the soaked sand. The phone was working properly the whole time and still is. Any other phone and I'd be ordering a new one. The cons are: - Low resolution of the screen. The great contrast of the bravia engine makes this a minor issue. - The short battery life (a bit worse than my iPhone 4). - Wifi coverage a bit short Apart from being waterproof, the pros are: - Does everything my iPhone 4 did at half the price - Rather snappy thanks to the dual-core microprocessor - Pictures and videos are great, much better than iphone - Android's spotify is a hundred times better than iPhone's - 16Gb built in plus 32Gb via microSd card All in all, 5 stars no doubt.
